AMA builds up to home award success

A LOCAL company has picked up the ultimate prize at this year's Scottish Home Awards.
Edinburgh house builders AMA (New Town) Ltd collected the 2009 House Builder of the Year award, sponsored by Gillespie Macandrew.
The company had scored highly with three Edinburgh developments: the Printhouse, Caer Amon and Springside, a new development in the Fountainbridge area of the Capital.
The chair of the judging panel, Margo MacDonald MSP, said: "I am very impressed to see so many firms engage positively with the Scottish Home Awards.
"Positivity is a powerful thing and it's very important you take the time to celebrate your achievements in good years and in bad."
Dan McDonald from McDonald Estates who was part of the judging panel said
" And finally, with a large scale conversion in a once neglected area, this company also demonstrated that it could turn its hand to the sensitive treatment of historic buildings.
This is a company which in the opinions of the judges showed urgent and intense passion, and sincerity in its work and produced results which always made a positive contribution to the built environment.
All of this against a market which remains exceptionally challenging. With this company we believe can look forward with great confidence to more. "
